I am a 23-year-old undergrad at the University of Maryland in College Park. Yeah, I know. I’m old. But hey, as they say, “better late than never,” right? Consider me a super, super senior. But that’s beyond the point. What is the point? I want to share my stories with you. Specifically my life as a student, radio show host and producer, music event organizer, student group president, and a million and one other things that I like to do to keep my calendar full and hopefully in the end my pockets full as well. ; )
I guess the hardest thing I had to figure out before actually doing this blog was figuring out what I wanted to say. I mean, there were so many options. I could write about the music I like to listen to or the movies I love to watch. I could talk about my sex life or share my deepest darkest most intimate secrets with the world anonymously. I could even use this space as a testing center for my zombie book that I have in the works. All of these ideas stormed my brain for nights on end and it really bothered me to think that I had to hone my voice in on one specific thing to add to the digital realm of porn, pirated media and social networks. And then it hit me one night while I was on Facebook, the holy grail of conversation pieces.”I could write about my experiences with the local music scene.”
And suddenly it all seemed so clear and the future blog topics and posts just seemed to flow through my brain like a roaring river attempting to carve out some kind of profound formation and I knew I had a winner. I knew I had something that I could easily re-tell and would enjoy doing so and for me this could serve as my own entertaining, life history book.
Within this space you will find out about all the music artists from the DMV, an acronym we local music folks like to use that stands for D.C., Maryland and Virginia, that I have come in contact with. I’ll tell you about my experiences with interning for three music and entertainment websites. You’ll get the inside scoop on my relationships with various music artists, producers, event planners and other influential people throughout the DMV. And don’t worry; I have met some quite interesting people and continue to meet new even more interesting people with each passing week. So there is never a dull moment.
Within this space I hope to give you a clearer idea of what my life is like and a better understanding of just who I am. Some experiences are good, some are great and some were and are still just plain old’ awkward, but hey it’s all real. It’s going to be very unrestricted and I vow to give the most honest accounts of my reality as I can. And who knows where we’ll end up along this journey. I could end up blogging about you one day. So get hype! And get ready! TheeArteest is officially an open book! All you have to do is turn the page, figuratively speaking of course. LoL LETS GOOO!!
