Just when you thought Jeff Bridges had undergone his final supernatural duel, he goes and battles “ginormous” dragons, beastly ghouls, and a witch in the form of Julianne Moore in Seventh Son, the film adaptation of Joseph Delaney’s novel “The Last Apprentice“. Though I know absolutely nothing about the book series, I can say that this film has gotten my attention. I love fantasy films with monsters and creatures and crazy battles, so this is definitely my kind of movie. And for The Big Lebowski to be so old, he’s still giving the silver screen a run for its money.

Considering the successes of book-to-film adaptations “Harry Potter”, “Percy Jackson”, and the “Twilight” series, I’m curious to know if this is just the beginning of many more film adaptations of “The Last Apprentice” book series. I guess time and the monetary success of the movie will tell.

A 18th century adventure story centered on young Thomas, who is apprenticed to the local Spook to learn to fight evil spirits. His first great challenge comes when the powerful Mother Malkin escapes her confinement while the Spook is away. (IMDB.com)
