Channing Tatum as a genetically engineered interplanetary hybrid wolf-human soldier stated to be the “perfect hunting machine”? Mila Kunis as an earth dwelling cleaning lady who is genetically marked for rule in a universal ‘queendom’? Sound crazy enough yet? Well, from the mind of Lana Wachowski (formerly known as Laurence (Larry) Wachowski) and Andy Wachowski–you may know them as the creatives behind The Matrix Trilogy, Speed Racer, and Cloud Atlas…to name a few–comes the original sci-fi/action/thriller of the future. They have labeled this as a teaser trailer, but this is more of an official trailer to me. It shows a lot of the film, but still leaves enough of the plot out to spark my interest and attract a science fiction film lover like myself. As a fan of the Wachowski siblings, I am glad to see them add another action film under their belts and look forward to seeing more about this movie. Jupiter Ascending opens July 25th, 2014 and with its “groundbreaking” cinematography, stunts, and computer graphics Channing Tatum has been vocal about, I will be sure to have my ticket in hand on opening weekend. Check out the official Warner Bros. synopsis and the trailer below!
Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis) was born under a night sky, with signs predicting
that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars
but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning toilets and an endless run of
bad breaks. Only when Caine (Channing Tatum), a genetically engineered
ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to
glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature
marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the
balance of the cosmos.
